Mike Brown

Michael Brown is an Electrical Engineering graduate from the U of A. His primary role for the last three years with Schlumberger has been embedded software (aka firmware) development, and has been involved in most aspects of embedded device deveolpment including component selection, pcb layout, product testing, manufacturing, and field support. He specalizes in products that must survive harsh environments, with operating temperatures up to 70 degrees C and survive vibration tests of 6g.

As a Member of ENTS (Edmonton New Technology Society) he is interested in sharing knowledge and learning from the Edmonton tech community.

Shane Courtrille

Shane Courtrille is an independent consultant who believes strongly in software development as a craft. He has been professionally developing software for over 10 years, and is passionate about developing well tested, maintainable solutions. Michael Deering

Michael Deering is a creative entrepreneur and software consultant with broad industry and technology experience. Michael's passion for software is nothing short of contagious.

Michael's most recent work has been as a contract product manager and Ruby on Rails consultant. He is also currently in the process of opening a Edmonton based software development and training studio.

James Kovacs

James Kovacs is an independent architect, developer, trainer, and jack-of-all-trades specializing in agile development using the .NET Framework. He is passionate about helping developers create flexible software using test-driven development (TDD), unit testing, object-relational mapping, dependency injection, refactoring, continuous integration, and related techniques.

He blogs on CodeBetter.com as well as his own blog, writes articles for MSDN Magazine and CoDe Magazine, and administers TeamCity.CodeBetter.com - a CI server for open source projects. He created psake, a PowerShell-based build automation tool, to save developers from XML Hell.

James is a Microsoft MVP - Solutions Architect and card-carrying member of ALT.NET - a group of software professionals continually looking for more effective ways to develop applications. He is the Agile Track Chair for DevTeach, Canada's largest independent Microsoft conference, and one of the organizers for ALT.NET Canada. He holds a variety of designations, including MCP, MCAD, MCSD, and MCT. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Toronto and his Masters degree from Harvard University.

D'Arcy Lussier

D’Arcy Lussier is one of many professionals that make up Protegra, a leading technology solution provider based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His focus is on web application development, but he also has experience developing applications for the Windows desktop and mobile platforms.

An active member of the developer community, Mr. Lussier is on the board of the Winnipeg .NET, SharePoint, and BizTalk user groups and is an INETA (International .NET Association) Membership Mentor for the Canadian prairies. He is a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer and has been awarded a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award in ASP.NET for 2008 and 2009.

Tom Opgenorth

Tom Opgenorth is an independent consultant residing near Edmonton, Alberta, an MVP in C# for 2008, and an all-around good guy (just ask him) with a taste for single malt Scotch and cigars. Tom has been developing software in various languages and on a variety of platforms for the last fourteen years, focusing primarily on .NET for the past six of those years.

Jas Panesar

Jas Panesar has been building web applications from a time where computers weren’t cool, and no one knew what the word internet meant. He has married and divorced and re-married several web languages. He remains on friendly terms with most of his ex’s for mutually beneficial alliances. Consulting since 1997, he has learnt (less and less the hard way) some peculiarly common strategies and mysterious patterns of successful web applications. Jas currently develops applications and startups through his company Damaag Inc., with clients across North America from the small businesses to large enterprises with hundreds of locations, because little is more fun than calling several hundred of them.

Ashley Reddy is passionate about software and technology. Occasionally he makes a living at it.

RenderMan

RenderMan is a Canadian born and raised hacker who spends way too much time figuring out ways of inserting electronics into treasured childhood toys. A frequent speaker at hacker and security cons around the world, he has also help author 2 books, RFID security and Kismet Hacking, both from Syngress. Consultant by trade, hacker by birth, black hat by fashion.

As co-refounder of the Church of Wifi and recent member of the NMRC, he spends his time adding to his expansive collection of con badges and thinking of new ways to subvert wireless networks and childhood memories.

Bil Simser

Bil Simser lives and works in Alberta, Canada, as an independent Solutions Architect Consultant. He specializes in .NET, Agile, XP, TDD, and computer game programming and is the lead developer for many open source projects including several tools for the Maxis game The Sims. Bil is the Microsoft MVP for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) in Calgary. He is also a member of the MSDN Canada Speakers Bureau and speaks publically at technical conferences including TechEd, PDC, and DevConnections about SharePoint, Agile, and C#. When he's not talking about himself in the third person, Bil is a pretty nifty guy when you get to know him.

Dave Woods

David Woods, President and Founder of Solidhouse (www.solidhouse.com), is an accomplished independent contractor and .NET developer specializing in enterprise applications and enterprise level projects aimed at meeting the unique needs and business requirements of a broad spectrum of clients.

He is an advocate of good OO skills and patterns, and is particularly passionate about security solutions and best practices. Dave holds the designation of Microsoft Security MVP, one of only three professionals in Canada to hold this distinction. He has been developing and programming applications since he was a kid, working his way from BASIC (and still has his Apple II to prove it) to .NET.

In addition to his corporate projects, Dave enjoys sharing his knowledge and understanding of some of the industry’s most innovative and forward-thinking arenas with other professionals and up-and-coming developers.
